Novikov

It’s been almost 4 months now since I’ve last visited Miami and I am surely happy to be back. I was expecting the weather to be a lot nicer like the previous times that I have been here, but it is not similar. I did not see the sun at all today and it’s been quite windy all afternoon.

The flight landed on time with no hitch today and with barely any sleep from last night because of a work event I’m still ready to go out and see Miami. The air just is so much nicer to breathe here in the south and the proximity to the ocean always makes me want to go out and dine more.

Speaking of dining out after unloading my stuff at my apartment and getting a bit of work done, I am now ready to explore Miami. I was looking for a place to have lunch and was browsing the recommendations from friends and saw that I have not tried Novikov yet. Located at 300 S Biscayne Boulevard, Novikov is famed for their Japanese – Chinese styled menu. Their business lunch menu caught my attention which was a 4-course meal for $28.

The dining room was nicely decorated with books and antiques and very high ceiling that makes the space quite appealing. The restaurant was designed well as the bar was positioned nicely on the side and the outdoor patio seating was nice and comfortable.

To start my meal, I had the cucumber tataki which had a nice spicy broth to it that played well with the fruit. Perfectly sliced and balanced spices left a good impression on my palate as I awaited my next course.

The chicken and morrel siu mai followed with some truffle sauce and it was unbelievable. Texture was perfect, the farce was on point and the dumpling was moist.

For my entrée I opted for the crispy Peking duck which did not disappoint at all. The duck was molded and the given a crust which would have to be shredded for the pancakes. This was a unique and interesting version of this classic dish, and I would come back for it again.

The yuzu sorbet was quite excellent as well with flavors that did not overpower, and the texture of the sorbet was perfect.

I would come back here again for more ☺
