Zazzy’s Pizza
Sunday’s here in NYC are mostly spent at home watching football or out having brunch. There are a few weeks in September and sometimes leading to October that these two things are combined. Zazzy’s Pizza having just opened their third location at the Upper East Side.
Located at 1477 2nd Avenue on the corner of 77th street it’s a great new addition to the neighborhood. The menu is perfectly curated with all the traditional favorites you would typically order from a pizza joint.
Being our 1st time ever at Zazzy’s it was nice to see the place full on a Sunday brunch. The outdoor dining patio was packed of NY Giants fans all enjoying a slice of pizza while watching the game. We opted for the quieter side of things and stayed inside the dining room to have a view of the chef as well making fresh pie and cooking them in the deck oven. The ambience inside was very nice and relaxing which reminded me of places that I’ve been to around Milano.
We were very hungry and ordered 4 slices of pizza to share in our table.
We started with the white pizza, which was with fresh mozzarella, fior de latte, ricotta, pecorino romano, fresh oregano and EVOO. This was simple yet very delicious, always one of my favorite slices. Next, we had the vodka pie with homemade vodka sauce, fresh mozzarella, dressed with parmesan, fresh oregano and EVOO. This was a unique slice as its most served as pasta, but the combination works perfectly fine for me. Thirdly we had the pepperoni pie with pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, homemade tomato sauce, oregano, fresh basil, EVOO and grated parmesan cheese. Always a classic, super flavorful and I liked that the pepperoni was crispy. Lastly, we had the special butcher’s pie which was like pepperoni but added some salami and Italian sausage. I added some of the spicy oil and hot honey to the slice which added more depths of flavor to the slice.
So happy that this place has opened and now I have a new place to hang out and have my favorite slice of pie…
