Queens Night Market
Nothing says summer more than a trip out to Corona Park to check out Queens Night Market. This is probably my favorite summer market to visit in all of NYC.
Coming back to Queens is always a bit nostalgic to me as I was based in Woodside for about 3 years before and I used to love exploring the area. Queens has so much diversity and culture that it oozes out into their cuisine which makes trips out here so interesting. If you’ve never been to the Chinatown in Flushing than you haven’t experienced Queens yet.
This has been quite an odd day as the sun was shining brightly all throughout the day before a thunderstorm started pouring down from the sky. It was raining all afternoon up until around 4 pm when the sky cleared up. I took this as a sign that it’s time to start getting ready and head out to Queens. I always feel like Peter Parker sometimes when I’m on the 7-train headed down Roosevelt with a camera on my shoulder, who ever said dreams don’t come true?...
I remember the last time I went here was in 2018 and that was my first time visiting as well. Most of the vendors present then are still here and the locations have not changed either. I was so happy to see so many people out supporting the neighborhood market. There was a band playing when I arrived around 6:30 right when they opened, and the music was lively enough to get the crowd pumped.
I was craving for some skewers and went directly to Mama for my first stop to get some squid and lamb skewers. Perfectly spiced and hot, this stall always hits the spot and washed it down with some beer.
Visited my “kababayan” next at Grilla in Manila for some crispy dinuguan. For some of you that do not know what “Dinuguan” is, stewed pork in pig’s blood. It’s one of my all-time favorite dishes from the Philippines.
Now it was time to visit Kanin NYC for some “Halo-Halo”, which is a shaved ice dessert with ube and other assorted sweets just like the Queens Night Market…
#KULINARYATRAVELS is off to Little MAD next for some Korean cuisine…
