Fish N Beer

The weather has been phenomenal all day today with the sun bright and no sign of rain at all. After I finished my lunch at Zeppelin Station, I headed straight to my next appointment which was at Stranahan’s Rocky Mountain Single Malt Whisky.

I have always wanted to learn about Whisky and Denver should be the best place to do so. Their facility was so cool and modern and the tour itself was fascinating. We learned about the process of how to make whiskey from the mash to the distilling and bottling. The whisky tasting was the most fun part of course. All this tasting of whisky has made me hungry and right in time for dinner. I’ve been eating a lot of meat since I arrived here in Denver a few days ago so in turn I decided to have a seafood meal tonight.

I was lucky enough to get a spot at one of the city’s busiest spots, Fish N Beer. Located at 3510 Larimer Street in the heart of the RhiNo Art District, Fish N Beer have been serving delicious food since 2017. Known for their oysters, grilled fish and creative seafood plates I could not have found a better place to have dinner tonight.

I arrived at the restaurant at around 8:30 pm and the place was packed, and hip-hop music was playing in the dining room. The hostess ushered me to the corner of the bar where I was right in front of the wood fire grill. I started my meal with the garlic wood grilled oyster and devil wood grilled. Both from Chesapeake Bay and one the devil wood grilled had a nice kick to it.

I tried a couple of raw oysters as well, Sex on the Bay from New Brunswick, CA and Hammersley from Pudget Sound served with horseradish and cocktail sauce.

My next course was the coal roasted mussels with shallots, tomato, and low-down pilsner. This was perfect as the broth was so good and dunking the bread in it was just gorgeous.

The Spanish octopus was my main course, and it was wood grilled with sauteed kale, roasted potatoes, and chili de arbol. The octopus was cooked to perfection and the potatoes were nice and crispy and the kale with chili de arbol was a nice balance to the dish.

At this point I was so full already but the people sitting next to me insisted that I try the key lime pie which after my first bite, I knew it was a good decision.

Thank you Fish N Beer for a wonderful meal and a fun evening.
